Luis
Muñoz Marín is a central part of this story for Puerto Ricans. He was
the first Puerto Rican governor to be elected by the people in the late 1940s
(until that point, governors were appointed by the US government). His
policies have had a profound impact on the island and its relations with the
US, especially in comparison with other commonwealth. The airport in San Juan
bears his name. http://www.proyectosalonhogar.com/BiografiasPr/luis_munoz_marin.htm
